Reinforced Rockcon System for Irregular Rock Surface

Reinforced rockcon system, as its name implies, is a kind of reinforced rockcon mesh system specially designed to secure loose rocks, rock spurs and overhangs as well as unstable rock formations with irregular surface and coarse block weathering.

It mainly consists of reinforced rockcon mesh, rock nails, claw type spike plates, rope anchors, shackles and boundary ropes. Reinforced rockcon mesh is extremely tough, abrasion-proof and can be pulled unsparingly over sharp rock edges without being damaged. In addition, it has a load capacity of 220 kN/m lengthwise, which allows it bearing higher static load than Rockcon® mesh and tightly securing around protruding rock boulders. Meanwhile, the firmly fastened reinforced mesh can absorb substantially high forces and transfer them onto the entire system. As a result, it guarantees the integrity of the whole mesh system and extends the service life of the mesh system. All these features make it a cost-effective alternative to supporting structures, shotcrete walls and conventional protection measures. As the reinforced mesh has a large mesh opening and cannot stop the movement of small rocks, it generally works with Rockcon® mesh or hexagonal mesh to increase the stability of rock slope.

High Tensile Strength

The overall performance of the reinforced rockcon system largely depends on its tensile strength and puncture strength as they determine how the mesh performs in association with the specific anchor plate. The triple-twisted wire mesh provides at least 220 kN/m load capacity lengthwise, together with its rhomboid mesh, make the system withstands high impact forces and transfers them to the entire system thereby extending its service life.

Topographic Fit

The reinforced rockcon mesh is generally fastened onto the mountain or slope surfaces tightly with soil or rock nails and spike plates through prestressed tension. The wire used for manufacturing the reinforced rockcon mesh is high tensile yet retains its malleable nature. This, in combination with its rhomboid mesh form, allows it adapting to almost all topographies and helping to maximize contact with the slope.

Reasonable Anchor Layout

An array of claw type spike plates and soil or rock nails are arranged in a matrix to fix the reinforced rockcon mesh firmly on the slope surface and ensure the optimal load distribution within the entire system. The anchor spacing, depth and type must be designed by a geotechnical engineer to properly accommodate the expected forces and to reduce maintenance.
